                                                 Fish Curry Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Fish: 500 grams (Rohu, King Fish, or any firm white fish, cut into pieces)
  • Onion: 2 medium-sized (finely chopped)
  • Tomato: 2 medium-sized (finely chopped)
  • Ginger-Garlic Paste: 1 tablespoon
  • Turmeric Powder: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red Chili Powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander Powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin Powder: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam Masala Powder: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Tamarind Pulp: 2 tablespoons
  • Coconut Milk: 1 cup (optional, for a richer taste)
  • Mustard Seeds: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Curry Leaves: 8-10
  • Green Chilies: 2 (slit)
  • Fresh Coriander Leaves: for garnishing
  • Oil: 2 tablespoons
  • Salt: to taste

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Fish:

    • Rub the fish pieces with turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt.
    • Set aside for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Curry:

    • Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Let them splutter.
    • Add curry leaves and green chilies, and sauté for a few seconds.
    • Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
    • Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell disappears.
    • Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and oil starts to separate.
    • Add coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
    • Add tamarind pulp and coconut milk (if using), and mix well.
  3. Cook the Fish:

    • Add the marinated fish pieces to the curry and gently mix to coat them with the gravy.
    • Cover and cook on low heat for about 10-15 minutes, until the fish is cooked through and the flavors are well absorbed.
  4. Serve:

    • Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
    • Serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
